Objectives of NDRF:

NDRF’s primary objectives encompass combating all types of disasters, be they natural or man-made, including radiological, biological, chemical, and nuclear incidents. Their mandate extends to:

Pre-Disaster:

  • Providing disaster management training to local police, administration, local bodies, and other stakeholders.
  • Organizing community awareness and preparedness programs while conducting familiarization and reconnaissance of vulnerable areas within their Area of Responsibility.
  • Offering training to teachers and school children in natural disaster management.

During Disaster:

  • Proactively deploying at level-III disaster scenarios.
  • Providing high-tech specialist responses during search and rescue operations.
  • Delivering immediate relief using available resources in affected areas.

Post-Disaster:

  • Assisting states in recovery efforts and restoring normalcy in disaster-affected areas.
